Some things you might like to know about me.

*I was born in Nottingham where I was taught to play the piano and Bass Trombone and enjoyed singing in the local Baptist Church Choir where my Dad was Choirmaster. Over the years I have enjoyed playing in orchestras, wind bands, theatre bands, brass groups and Big Bands.

* I studied at London University (BMus) and Bath Spa University (MA in Contemporary Music and Culture, with composition as main study). I also have a diploma in Military Bandmastership from London's Royal College of Music and a diploma from the London College of Music.

* Three full length musicals were among my first compositions, written as a teenager for  the Baptist Church Youth Club.  These were followed by music for plays, recorders, orchestra, organ, brass band, choirs, Big Bands and Handbells.

* My 'Silver Celebration' and 'Birthday Rag' won National Competitions for new Handbell pieces and 'March of the Heroes'  (for Handbells, brass ensemble and timpani) was premiered at the International Handbell Symposium in Brisbane in 2006. My march 'Music Makers' was premiered by the Royal Doulton Band. In 2008 Bath Bach Choir commissioned me to write a carol for their Carols by Candlelight concerts and  'We come to tell the story' was premiered by the choir in December 2008.

 * The 'Dance Suite' for Junior Trombone Quartet won the British Trombone Society's composing competition and was performed in 2009 by the Black Dyke Band trombone Quartet.

*My march 'Olympic Gold' (for Handbells, brass ensemble, timpani and side drum) is to be premiered at the International Handbell Symposium in Liverpool in 2012.

* I spent over 35 years as a schoolteacher with 7 to 11 year old students, my School Wind Band winning an award in the National Finals of the McDonald's 'Child of Achievement' competition at Birmingham's NEC.  In 2000 my School Handbell Team were chosen to represent our city and played my music at London's Millennium Dome, and in 2002 I was a finalist in Classic FM's 'Music Teacher of the Year'.

* My music is published by Novello, EMI, Warwick Music, HRGB and Mayola Music in England and Flagstaff Publishing Co., Emerson Music, The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Lorenz Publishing Company, National Music Publishers and High Meadow Music in America.

* Now retired, I'm still busy as a composer and arranger and enjoy playing Trombone with Bath University Big Band.  I'm a member of the British Trombone Society and an active longbow archer with Bath Archers.

* I'm at my happiest when I'm with my wife Lynne, my 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
